OPEN CALLS

Metamorphosis

What does our 2026 theme mean?

In our 2026 season, themed "Metamorphosis," we invite you to explore the captivating transformations that shape our lives, memories, and identities. This season’s exhibits delve into how we evolve, change, and rediscover ourselves through the lens of nostalgia and personal growth. Shows like "Faded Polaroids" evoke the gentle fading of memories, capturing moments that feel suspended in time, while "Through the Rearview Mirror" offers a reflective journey through life’s pivotal moments and the echoes they leave behind.

Join us as we celebrate the beauty of change, honoring the past while embracing the continuous process of becoming.
We’re looking for featured and upcoming artists to place for these months.

Exhibits will be announced soon!

Material Memory

Material Memory

ART321 is calling all artists to Material Memory: An exploration of found objects, forgotten stories, and the art of transformation.

Some materials carry weight beyond their function - fragments of the past, tokens of memory, or discarded things waiting to become something new. Material Memory invites artists to create work using or inspired by found, reclaimed, or repurposed objects, transforming the ordinary and overlooked into something meaningful.

Whether it’s a rusted hinge, a worn glove, a thrifted photo, or a scrap of fabric—this exhibit explores how physical materials can hold emotional resonance, personal history, or collective nostalgia. What do we carry? What do we let go? And what do these objects say about who we are?

Possible directions artists may explore:

  • Assemblage or collage with salvaged materials

  • Sculptures or installations from discarded items

  • Objects that evoke memory, decay, or reinvention

  • Art that honors the past through transformation

All mediums welcome!  Works must incorporate at least one found or reclaimed material.

This is NOT a juried exhibition. All work that follows submission guidelines and is professionally presented, will be accepted. All artwork submitted must be delivered ready to display or hang with secure hanging wire. Any frames must be in good condition (no scratches or loose corners). Art321 will not be able to hang works that have improper hanging devices.
