Creating Space for Artists.
Building Access for All.
For nearly a century, ART321 has been a creative home for Casper artists. Ten years ago, when we moved into our current building, we did so with a long-term vision in mind, one that included the basement as an essential part of our future growth.
In those early years, our focus was on establishing stability, finishing and activating the main level, and building momentum in the organization. As our programs, classes, and community have grown, so has the need for more space and more accessible space.
Now, a decade later, we are ready to complete that original vision.
Our basement expansion is the next major step in ensuring that everyone, regardless of age, ability, or experience level, has room to create, learn, and belong. This project isn’t just about square footage. It’s about access, opportunity, and the future of the arts in Wyoming.
We’re Making Progress!
Why This Expansion Matters
Over the past few years, ART321 has reached capacity upstairs. Our most popular programs, especially clay, adaptive arts, and youth education, are full or overflowing. At the same time, our basement has remained largely unused since moving into the building in 2015.
By transforming this space, we can:
Expand programs that are already in high demand
Hold concurrent classes and workshops
Provide affordable, professional studio space
Create new earned revenue to support long-term sustainability
When artists have space to create, our entire community benefits.
Our heating and air conditioning systems are officially complete, and the framing for our wheelchair lift is finished, with the lift ordered and expected to arrive by the end of January 2027.
We're not just renovating a basement.
We're creating 8,000 square feet of comfortable, accessible, creative space for our entire community.
The wheelchair lift will help ensure everyone can access the opportunities downstairs, while heating and cooling bring us one big step closer to opening new classrooms, artist studios, and creative spaces.
Every step brings us closer to making more room for YOU to create!
What We’re Building
A Larger, Accessible Clay Studio
The basement expansion will double the size of our clay studio, allowing us to
Double our studio space for workstations
Be closer to our new front-loading kiln, designed for accessibility
Offer more classes and workshops
Clay is one of our most powerful community builders, supporting youth, seniors, artists with disabilities, and beginners who are discovering creativity for the first time.
Studio Rentals & Collaboration Space
We envision affordable studio rentals alongside a central communal gathering space, encouraging collaboration, mentorship, and cross-disciplinary creativity. This will give artists a place not just to work, but to connect.
We'll have 8 smaller studios and a larger one as well.
5 will have ventilation.
A Creative Hub for Casper
This expansion positions ART321 as a true creative hub in the Old Yellowstone District, a place where artists, families, students, and visitors come together to learn, make, and be inspired.
It strengthens:
Local artists and creative businesses
Downtown vitality and cultural tourism
community connection in Wyoming's long winters
How You Can Help
This project is made possible through community support, donations, grants, partnerships, and advocacy. Every contribution helps us move closer to fully and sustainably opening this space.
If you believe in access to the arts, creative opportunity, and building a future where everyone has room to create, we invite you to be part of this transformation.
Together, we’re building more than a basement; we’re building the future of the arts in Casper.
This project is made possible in part by support from The Wyoming Cultural Fund.
