Front Desk Assistant

Nita is getting ready to spread her wings and head off to college in Laradise, and we’re looking for someone to fill her role at the front desk.

Do you love talking with people and creating a welcoming atmosphere? ART321 is looking for a friendly, outgoing Front Desk Assistant to help greet visitors, support our gift shop and gallery, and be a warm presence in our creative space.

Part-time | 10–12 hours/week
This position will have a few fewer hours during training this summer, and then go up to 14-16 hours in the fall

Flexible shifts (mornings, afternoons, evenings + 2–3 Saturdays/month)

$10–$12/hour

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys community, creativity, and a calm but lively environment.
No gallery experience required — just a great attitude and strong customer service skills.

Front Desk Assistant Job Description

ART321 is looking for a friendly, outgoing Front Desk Assistant to create a warm, welcoming environment for visitors while supporting the gift shop, gallery, and front desk with tasks such as greeting guests, running the register, and answering phones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors with friendly, welcoming energy

  • Answer questions about exhibits, hours, and upcoming events

  • Direct guests to the gallery, gift shop, or classroom

  • Answer incoming calls and take clear messages

  • Keep the front desk tidy and organized

  • Run the Square register for simple purchases

  • Assist with gift shop inventory, tagging, and tidying

  • Check membership status as needed

  • Assist with setup and cleanup during receptions or classes

  • Provide friendly support during busy programs

  • Help staff monitor visitor flow during events and peak times

  • Reliable and on time

  • Able to follow checklists and stay organized

  • Self-motivated; You find things to tidy or do without being asked

  • Comfortable interacting with a wide range of community members

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience is strongly preferred

  • Comfortable with technology (Square, email, simple forms)

  • Comfortable standing or walking on concrete floors during busy shifts

  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs unassisted
